What is it?

Officially, it’s a tribute to Lamborghini’s legendary, semi-retired test driver, Valentino Balboni. Unofficially, it heralds a series of new rear-drive Lamborghini models (it's the first non-4WD Lambo since the gut-wrenching Diablo SV a decade ago).

The Balboni has lost weight with the removal of the front diff, driveshaft and propshafts. It has also lost 10bhp, but it seems to gain so much more.

Didnt they say they would never do a RWD car?

I wonder if their owners Audi will follow suit. A RWD S4 perhaps?

Sounds as if lamborghini have turned an Audi into a Lamborghini. It also sounds wonderful, particularly with the proper manual Balboni has insisted upon.

These things are about fun, and 4wd isnt. It may well make it a much faster car, but i will swap speed for fun anyday, ( And how ever much slower it is, i doubt anyone will call it slow).

I'm not really a super car man either, I think they are pretty pointless... but if I was a rich man looking for a sports car, it would have to be a Lambo! :-)

Congratulations to the guys at Lamborghini for sneaking this past their Audi kommandants.  What a fantastic car!

Sadly, I'm the odd £137,000 down; if anyone would like to share I have the £900 balance...

I like this Valentino Balboni guy, he sounds like my sort of man.

Who'd have thought it though, a rear driver is a better drivers car than a four driver (sarc)!  Now, if they could coax Balboni out of semi retirement to re-engineer so Audi products....

Utterly fabulous, now all we need to is lobby the government to lift speed restrictions on UK roads.

Not only will the Ford Focus RS be faster on most roads but it comes in the same hidious shade of green.

 They will try to cut some of the sales of F458 to themselves, with 250 pieces of unique kit it´ll be easy. But not enough to get back to black numbers. Very interesting is the good old shifter, no levers under the steering wheel.
