"One such interior, Yachting Mahogany, has been inspired by boating and it features mahogany trim on the dashboard, doors, centre console, steering wheel and grab handles."

Oh dear, this really does sound the end of Porsche being a sports car manufacturer, and the Panamera really being the sports car they claim it is.

    It's all about the twisties....

c'mon guys, you don't like Porsche (or at least, the Panamera...) but anyway, nothing this sounds to me knew at Porsche...

Since long time we can have & add  this sort of gadjets from Exclusive & Tequipment, including in the 911...

    so... where is the story?

I like Porsche's (I've got one) and even quite like the Panamera (although it would have to be the base model - it's the purest of the lot), so there's no problem there.

However, whilst you are right in saying they have always done various accessories, they haven't ever done a luxo barge wooden trim interior pack before!  It highlights the dumbing down of a once great marque.

I must be honest, I really do not deeply know what means "a luxo barge wooden trim interior pack" (I`m not english), but I just can say:

At least since 1996~1997, for the typ 993, via Exclusive & Tequipment, we were able to select wood trim for the 911...

and this was like that, because Porsche were "seriously hitted" by british costumers, claiming for that - this was the official speech at Exclusive&Tequipment...

by my side, as always, wood in sportscars: no thank you very much (even on just A4 TDI sport, also, no thank you very much...)

but we should be openminded, there are persons that like that!

I also agree with you in some points (basic spec), by the way, the turbo mufflers are awfull, the round ones from the S are better looking, but the turbo is... top spec... for some persons, there is no other way!

about "once great marque", is the same, everyone as their oppinions, I can see a lot of bad things in the past, I just like Porsche, maybe not the same way as many like them (I guess)

No real news here surely. All the "up-market" brands are trying to tempt customers in these dificult times, so being able to add a few different trims and veneers is no big deal, they all do it. Porsche are making a big thing of it for the publicity alone (can't blame them for that) but the trim levels on a car don't make it any better or worse to drive.
