This is the Edo Competition Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, which has 547bhp and 501lb ft of torque.

Built by German tuner Edo Competition, the car's 6.3-litre V8 has 97bhp more than the standard version's and an additional 59lb ft of torque.

That reduces the C63 AMG's 0-62mph time to 4.3sec, down from 4.5s. The top speed lim...Read the full article

What's the point? Two tenths for what? $20,000? I can understand some people wanting to improve and individualize their cars but at some point, it becomes silly...........Edo silly.

Mercedes has said on many occasions that the 7G-Tronic transmission is not capable of handling any more than 600Nm. I have seen Brabus, Carlsson, and now Edo coming out with tuned-up C63 with more than the 600Nm of the standard 6.3L engine.

Can Autocar tell us how these tuners can make the 7G-Tronic transmission cope with the increased power and torque?

I know AMG are in-house now and their cars are Mercedes models in their own right, but the concept of a modified AMG just sounds weird - almost as if it's a modified version of an already modified, specialised and/or extreme version of a standard car.

Can you imagine a company offering a modified or more extreme version of a Brabus or an Alpina ?

Can I add my very strong agreement to the comments of March1!   I sent the following to Autocar last week, and haven't changed my thoughts since...

"After many years, why are you suddenly giving such prominence on your website to modified cars?  I logged on this afternoon and saw "Breaking News - Hotter Lambo Murcielago SV".  This is nonsense.  It is not a new Lamborghini.  German companies sticking bits of new trim and bodywork on any car should not be occupying your time.  In fact you do not even know if it is more powerful, so why is it hotter?  Yesterday there was the "Mcchip" Audi TT RS and the other day there was some sort of F430 vandalism being discussed as well.  You are not Max Power."

Maybe they've increased transmission hydraulic pressure by a bit or something. It's sure the life of the transmission wouldn't be the same as in the base C63.

Anyhow, it looks pretty good without all the chrome. The base C63 looks a bit chintzy I think.
