  • Jaguar Land Rover loses £673m

    Jul 27, 2009 12:11 PM

Jaguar and Land Rover have lost a combined £673.4 million in the past year - a sharp drop from its £641.5m profit in the same period last year.

Furthermore, the "total recognised losses" at JLR - including actuarial and other losses related to the firms' pension schemes - reached nearly £1.2bn last year.

However, a JLR spokesman stressed that the accounts relate to its UK operations only, and added that the previous financial year's results had been boosted by a sharp rise in its A...Read the full article

Cars (racing or road) and football clubs are one way spend huge amounts of money...rockets and space shuttles being another.

I still think they should place the current RR on a limited run and replace it with the LRX (I know not a popular view but they need volume); move the current discovery to the defender and then bring in a new discovery that acounts for the base disco now and the high end RR....but place the RR badge on the LRX to reinvent the RR image.

Then bring out a small jag etc...they will need further cash input from TATA in the coming couple of years; you would expect at least another £1bn; that is some cheque to write.

     North,

We have heard the same unchanging response from you so often. Please, can you think of something else constructive to say?

Trocadero; sorry does it say you have to read them...??......and critical also.....did I see your constructive opinion of the situation.....no.....so instead of being critical...open the debate.....also:

one) how can I get more constructive? what i have written is constructive in overiew strategy; something else constructive, I would have to write a busines plan for them, its a forum not a thesis session.

two) you assume that I care?

three) surely you realise that what you seek needs constructive (to use your words) debate and that means others offer their opinion etc i.e. and as stated, do not be criticial, offer constructive exchange....what do you think?.....but with your response you are defeated by your own comment on your own terms......

As for JLR what I have written as you point out is constructive and consistent; in my opinion that is what they should do; but of course if you are conusor of my work you will have read my past posts and the various aspect covered within.....inc. those focused on JAG......Autocar allow you to read all the posts....if you want to spend your time reading them that is entirely up to you......I have no interest if you do or do not.

     ...hope that helps.....

One of Land Rovers major problems (and there are many) is the weight of it's vehicles it should have switched to Jaguars aluminum bodies with this current update, the longer it waits. the more sales it will lose, but the biggest problem is reliability it is dismal and there is no easy fix for that, that is a major production/ supplier problem.

JLR make some fantastic cars and when the recovery comes, Jags and Landrovers will be selling like hotcakes.
