  • Ferrari's breakdown scheme

    Jul 21, 2009 6:02 PM

Ferrari has launched a free With You roadside assistance service for all of its cars not covered by a four-year factory warranty.

The free 12-month scheme, which is open to all Ferraris produced since 1947, offers to recover your car at no cost if it breaks down, and then take it to a Ferrari repair centre or to your home. Hotel expenses are also covered.

So this means I can buy the cheapest Ferrari I can find (a 1984 A plate Mondial QV on Autotrader at £12995), and they will recover this car for me free of charge if it goes wrong?

Sounds too good to be true.

I would guess there will be an extra charge for the urgent work the Ferrari service centre have to do to the car to get you back on the road.

Wonder what the hotels are like as well?  Do you reckon they've done a deal with the Formule1 hotel group?

This looks like a very clever piece of PR. If they keep it up , surely their competitors will have to copy the scheme , or else look tight. Obviously Ferrari made VERY few production cars between say 1947 and 1962 , and most of those are wrapped in cotton wool in private collections.

    If it goes wrong, Teg?

This new scheme was devised specifically for the Beeb's Top Gear team since the AA has refused them further coverage :)
