This article doesn't really tell us anything new does it? I'm not convinced by that 'artists impression' either.
I don't know why people are already bashing the Milano, nor the Giulia for that matter. The former hasn't even been shown officially yet! I don't think there is anything wrong with the styling of either the Milano or the MiTo . I think they both look as good as anything else in their respective classes. Better than many in fact. I'd take a MiTo over a MINI any day of the week. I am expecting the Milano to be a stunner in the metal, regardless of how it might appear in the development mule spyshots and the more recent factory shots.
The Giulia will be offered with front or four wheel drive. Why is there always this thing about RWD whenever Alfa is mentioned? i know purists would go mad for a rear driver, but Alfa Romeo do not need to offer a rear drive platform for this model, surely. I certainly wouldn't demand one. Maybe for the 166 replacement it would be nice yes, but BMW & Mercedes build plenty of rear wheel sedans for those who want one, if thats their motoring holy grail. Audi do not build rear drive sedans, and I don't see their brand faltering as a result. As with many other folks, the lack of RWD wouldn't deter me. Of the non-Alfisti, the majority of consumers are probably not car enthusiasts and likely wouldn't know the difference anyway.
I have every confidence that the company who brought us the achingly pretty 156 and the purposeful and elegant 159 will execute the successor perfectly. The Giulia is going to have all of the design purity, simple but beautiful detailing and elegance that we have come to know and love from Alfa saloons. The Giulia will not be an ugly car. Nor will it look like a MiTo with a boot. It may share some design cues with its siblings, but I think we can rest assured that it will be a real beauty.
