Actually its not that daft and like the guy said, it does not mean national models but for instance on a farm it could contribute to the overall energy equation i.e. as they say heaitng the home etc....especially as it costs les energy to extract it re. water (one of the the main issues with hydrogen).
As folks know, some diesels have fluid injected re. emissions alteration.....that fluid as I understand is effectively a man made Urea which was initially taken from animals urine.....if memory serves.
The issue always was collection! however, in the rich map of local power generation (which I think I also got slatted for yet the gov. are sticking money into now...not because of me but simply becuase its the correct think to do)....you will find you get different systems and that will add to the rich mix of production means.
Ps; the local generation (in whatever form) means all the idiots (and they are idiots) moaning on about electric cars and the "grid cannot cope" (there are some who frequent teh autocar forums) are again proved wrong.......local generation is the future, homes that are net proceducers and not net users etc are the future......electric cars here we come.....hello Chevy Volt, Merc, Tesla, Fisker cars (and versions/tech versions) thereof....unlukcy Prius and Insight.....as I have said countless times.....Prius and Insight hybrid should only be applied to certain sizes of cars and Toyota and Honda got it way wrong.......eventually of course all cars will be battery powered/Chevy Volt type system.
