  • Karmann 'saved by VW'

    Karmann has reportedly been saved from bankruptcy after it struck a €10 million (£8.6 million) deal with Volkswagen to produce electric vehicles.

    Neither company has confirmed the reports in the German media, but it is believed that the insolvent coachbuilder will be reorganised to “focus on building electric-powered cars”, according to sources close to the deal.

    Excellent news.  We need the low-volume specialists like Karmann to keep on producing the interesting variants the big manufacturers don't have time or space for (take a look on their website and see what they've had a hand in over the years - quite surprising).  Pity they've been forced down the electric route, but that's the price of survival I suppose.
