A 290bhp, 465lb ft Porsche Cayenne diesel has been launched by German tuning company TECHART.

The standard Porsche Cayenne 3.0-litre TD V6 produces 240bhp and 406lb ft of torque, but Techart has squeezed 50bhp more out of the engine and an extra 59lb ft of torque.

The firm has also modified the torque curve to make more than 370lb ft available from 1100rpm.

If a tuning firm can squeeze extra bhp and Nm without sacrificing fuel consumption or CO2 then why can't Porsche deliver the same performance as standard?

i guess the engine maybe less refined, more lumpy, noisey?

or more stress will be placed on the internals as they are generating more energy, which i think could be more likely. the engine will wear out quicker.

Yea, and out-dragged to 60 by a 1.8 Skoda Octavia!

This might actually make this car just about acceptable if they hadn't somehow managed to make it even more ugly!
