Geely has sold 200 London black cabs in China since it went on sale last week, and it plans to sell 1000 by the end of the year.

The Chinese manufacturer sells the car in partnership with British firm Manganese Bronze Holdings PLC, who have built 100,000 cabs at its Coventry plant since 1948.

When they've flooded the Taxi market with these, I'm sure said business persons other half (or who ever he/she has bought it for) will be really pleased!

You'd think with all this extra revenue coming in, they could afford to put a new engine/gearbox in that stops them being disgusting, polluting, thirsty, CO2 belching, prehistoric monsters that fill our towns with fumes...or maybe it's just me who think they get away with murder selling these when car companies and ordinary punters now pay through the nose to make and drive cars that are far, far, far more environmentally friendly than these...I'm off to calm down.

Its okay!! they are bringing out an electric one! the range is not great but its a start; in all fairness somone will be bringing out a Chevy Volt based unit soon and they already have hybrid taxis in the US; plus you have the Tesla coming out soon which would make an ideal electric taxi; in fact there is a cracking business idea i.e. leasing the new Tesla four seater to taxi drivers!!
