Mercedes has launched its own young driver’s academy, designed to teach its students to become good drivers.

Students aged 12 and above will be able to take part in a variety of modules at Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, which are adapted according to the driver’s age and ability.

Excellent idea, and hopefully it will create a generation of more considerate drivers.  Shame then it is only based in Surrey.

    It's all about the twisties....

Good idea but what is Mercedes really looking to acieve, after all it's not exactly target audience is it?  Get to them at 12 and hope that when they get to 50 they will remember the brand and start buying them?

I think what MB is trying to achieve here is to continue to promote their culture of motoring safety, and I think it's a damn good idea. Off-course it's restricted, as it's only based in 1 part of the country, but it's a pilot scheme and if it is successful, then more will become available. Most importantly for MB, it is a good business idea. The article failed to give any idea of prices, but if MB's current schemes for young drivers are anything to go by, it will cost from £75ph. Anyway, this country needs an improved scheme to teach young people how to drive properly, as the standards today are ridiculous.

This sounds like an excellent scheme...

Let's hope MB roll it out to some other UK-wide race circuits though so that as many kids as possible get a chance to participate
