Formula One's championship leading team, Brawn GP, is to sell off much of its collection of old Honda F1 cars.

Among the items being sold are F1 cars dated from between 2001 to 2006, spanning the team's BAR and Honda eras.

I am surprised that they wern't retained by Honda - they had to get something out of their investment in F1 afterall! 

"All race cars will be sold as rolling chassis, without engines or other ancillaries and they are expected to fetch £7,000-£22,000 each."

£7,000.  That's not a lot of money for quite a bit of carbon fibre.  Almost worth buying and sticking a decent road going engine in one for track days!

The carbonfibre in the wings alone must be worth that.

I can remember carrying a Jaguar F1 car minus engine into a building sideways for a dealer exibition - incredibly light once the engines and ancilaries are sripped out. 4 of us easily managed to pick it up and turn it through 90 degrees to get it through a doorway - just like you do with a sofa but with a lot more panicking in case you catch the edges!

I guess they need to raise a little more cash to pay Jenson's race win bonuses this season ...

 I would love one as a coffee table in the sitting room but I think I may encounter a little opposition from Mrs 38Cars 

No major sponsor and now they are selling off the crown jewels!  Am I alone in being worried that Jenson is not going to be on the grid at the end of the season to collect the rewards for which he has waited so long?

I reckon on the ever canny Mr Branson stumping uo some serious money now the team and Jenson are flying such a high profile. I also think that anything sold at this auction that has some Jenson DNA attached to it will fetch good money.
