  • Peugeot unveils 5008 MPV

    Jun 02, 2009 10:29 AM

Peugeot has unveiled its new 5008 people carrier, which it says draws influence from the classic seven-seat 505 estate.

The 4.53m-long model has seating for seven. The seats in the second row can be reclined individually, and the back row folds flat to give 2506 litres of luggage capacity.

The front passenger seat also folds into a ‘shelf configuration’ to allow long objects to be loaded as far as the dashboard.

The 5008 will be available with three different engines in var...Read the full article

doesn't look too bad, much better proportioned front end than on some other pugs, must be based on a picasso though as looks very familiar somehow, windscreen looks the same so i assume shares all the hard points of a picasso. cant see the old 505 influence though, not super massive long enough.

There was a time when Citroens were the bland replicas of Peugeots (think Saxo/106). This thing looks more like a C4 Picasso than a Peugeot. At least the huge grille is gone but it doesn't have much else going for it. Still ugly.

Not much of a looker though is it?

Having said that, if they start at £15K that's not bad value for what seems to be a pretty spacious family car. Add in a slice of discount plus scrappage allowance and i'm thinking you could put a base model on the road for about £12.5K? A lot of car for the money.

I wonder how closely related under the skin this car is to the Citroen C4 Picasso?

It has been a long time in the waiting for a decent Peugeot MPV.  It's certainly one of the better looking current pugs and for the first time in a long time, I hope Peugeot do well with it.

    It's all about the twisties....

Looks quite good if that's what you're after. However, I think the only connection with the classic 505 is the fact that there a '5' in the name...

Don't talk to me about sophistication, I've been to Leeds!

So size-wise is this a competitor to the Scenic or the Espace?

it looks Scenic sized , and the glasshouse has a familiar shape towards the

rear quarter windows so i would say it is a heavily revised C4 Picasso

I agree, my wife has a Grand C4 with the EGS gearbox on motability which is due for a swap next year. The rear seats look similar and the folded 3rd row looks exactly the same.

If they can do a cheap diesel auto then I can see a swap to a pug next time; have looked at the Verso (narrow boot, no diesel auto yet) and the new big Scenic (again no cheap diesel auto)

That is exactly how I feel.  OK how about this?

From the front, looks like the last Toyota Celica

From the side, looks a bit like a Subaru Legacy Wagon

Aside from the resemblance to the C4 Picasso, it actually looks a lot like a Toyota as well.

Thumbs up for the demise of the enormous gaping mouth design!

Looks like a very well-balanced design though, and the interior looks classy too.

The long one would probaby be an 8008 to replace the 807 or would that just be 808?
