The Mini Mayfair, £300 more than the Camden, comes in Pepper White, Midnigh...Read the full article

Like the Mini Camden, it's just another manifestation of the distorted BMW marketing view of what's 'British'. Fact: The BMW Mini Cooper was originally going to be called the Mini Paddy.

"The special editions will be produced for one year."

In other words, BMW aren't confident enough to produce a limited production figure, say 1000 - incase it takes them a decade to sell that many! Lol

Quattro369: do you not think that maybe the reason they are not saying how many will be produced is because the volumes are actually very high? Mini special edditions are always good sellers.

and to the other question about the Championship model: its with reference to John Cooper Garages who ran a GP team in the 1950's and 60's...

No. The MINI range has been one of the biggest victims of the sales decline. A staid image and laughable pricing are probably the biggest causes.

These special editions are just a lame attempt at getting people interested again.

A perfect explanation for why our dealership has sold more MINIs this year than we had by this time last year. And no, not many of our deals are on the scrappage scheme. Everyone acknowledges that the MINI is expensive to buy in the first place but has the strongest residual values of pretty much any mainstream cars on the market so in real terms isn't so laughable at all, is it? I think you'd have to be pretty dim witted to think the cost of ownership stops with the initial purchase...
