The first-ever police-spec Jaguar XF is being evaluated by forces across the country.

The car is based on the XF diesel S model, retaining the standard 271bhp 3.0-litre engine but gaining a roof-mounted light bar, flashing LED lights in the front, sides and rear.

It is also fitted with a Home Office-specification ‘police pack’ to power a full suite of emergency lights, radio and other electronic equipment.

Ahhhh, reminds me of the good old days when the Police bought British, Rover SD1's and the like.

Should make a nice change to see these instead of the current batch of BMW's that they seem to be using at the moment.

    It's all about the twisties....

Yes, if the officers are going to be driving about in luxury motors it may as well be a British built one - is this leading to the force actually considering using them or just a promotional push like the Police Lamborghini, Esprit etc we have seen in the past?

No so much of the 5 series, the suspension can't handle the some of the heavier equipment the Mercedes or Audi can, I hope the Jag does though.

Surely whilst plod is waiting for the gear k'nob to majestically rise, the air vents to calibrate and align themselves, before pressing the pulsating start button and having one last glance of appreciation at the class leading interior...

...the crooks will have ramped their nicked getaway Focus out of sight!

Good for Jag in terms of business, but doesn't bode well for residual values. Is it coincidental that most cars that UK plod has run have been heavy depreciators - even the 5-series depreciates heavily. Ruins the image in my view. Lovely car though.

I'd assumed that it was illegal for the Police to use British made cars. :-)
