Great review. Would good to see more of these videos.

Im a little sceptical of your statements that the car is 'faultless'. Does this means that in a proper group test with the german big three the XFR will come out first - without reservation?

    M5 - Cr*p gearbox.

    RS6 - Numb steering & Solid ride.

    E63 - Stodgy handling.

    XFR - Faultless?

"Cannot find anything wrong with it at all", "it's faultless" says Sutcliffe's love letter to the XFR.

What with the XKR also humbling all comers, like the 911, the Vantage V12 defecating all over the GT2, and the Evora making the Cayman S look like a hapless pile of old pants,  ("...steers more sweetly than the Cayman,....changes direction with such precision and immediacy, all the Cayman driver can do is watch in awe.....yet at the same time it’s that much more comfortable than the Cayman as well..." - from a blog by Sutcliffe as well), according to the Autocar the new breed of Brit cars are not only better than everything else by everyone else, but by golly, they are so spiffingly ahead in another dimension that only a wormhole could help the competition to catch up.

Hehehe, Love it; can't beat good 'ol Union Jack flag waving, whenever the opportunity presents itself. Can't wait for Autocar's "objective" assessment of the new XJ. I wonder if it'll make the S-class, 7-series et al run off and hide away in the Bora Bora caves.

Ofcourse patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel, but can you really blame him?

Let's face it, jags haven't really been the best cars in recent years but they are finally starting to build decent cars that people actually want to buy and they deserve some credit for their spectacular turn-around.

Besides, all of the jaguars these days, with the exception of the x-type, are miles ahead of their competition and we already know the xj will be better than the 7-series because its just a reskin of the present xj, which is already better.

Great video, not sure how relevant to real world driving much of it was - but who cares really.

Would be interested to know what sort of distance it took to stop from 150mph and also I'm suprised you relied on the cars spedo for all the calculations, bearing in mind most manufacturers set them to read on the high side.

Applying my mathematical brain, I get a distance of 218 metres.  I don't know how accurate that is but it seems ok to me when I look at the highway code.

I have just seen two of these at the Jag dealership down the road from me in Nottingham and they look amazing.  As mentioned in other threads, I hope there is an estate version because my dad really wants it!

Pausing the video at the critical moment looks awful, front end crushed into the tarmac, suspension fully compressed and the spoiler scraping along the ground.

    Unscientific.

    Brilliant...........

Autocar in the last few years has always heaped praise on Jaguar's so this report was as predicted.

Deserved praise right now. Even the S-type was a good car, just not a looker - same with the X-type.

Have you been in an XF? I had my first time in an XF on saturday afternoon - it's absolutely stunning. It was the diesel model and not the XFR - but if the diesel model is anything to go by then the XFR really is an awesome car.

Autocar can't win. Would you have prefered Steve to say that the M5 was a much better car? Autocar are bias towards BMW aren't they? Not to mention Ford of course.

Most of the people who say Autocar are bias obviously don't like BMW's or Fords (their perogative) but equally have probably never driven one either.

Great video by the way and a great car. Another to add to my dream garage.

If you haven't driven a particular car don't say you have just to prove a point. It doesn't fool anybody and is bloody annoying.

Firstly, don't put bikes on the page,in a straight bikes disappear,on twisty, bendy roads cars of this ilk make them look stupid, secondly,no car is faultless, not many people choose cars with their brain, its usually their ego or what they fancy no matter what!
