  • Evora cabrio will be a two-seater

    May 07, 2009 7:20 PM

Lotus will convert its new 2+2 Evora into a strict two-seater for its convertible version, due within the next three years.

The Hethel firm is gearing up for the launch of the regular Evora, but it already has plans to extend the range through transmission, engine and roof options by 2012.

I don't like superchargers, I wish Lotus would do an "S" version with a higher tuned version of the existing naturally aspirated engine instead.

And if the price difference between Evora and Cayman is already a little uncomfortable, how much more expensive will the cabrio be than the Boxster?

I cant really see those 2 excuses for rear seats as any great loss - they look even smaller than the ones on the 911 and XKR.

As for the post above - yes, the price will look silly for the convertible if it adds another 5k to the list price - way more expensive than the Boxster - a high specced Evora Convertible would be over £60k and far too close to the 911.

Can't get enough of that Volkswagen and Audi stuff...

Apart from the Elise/Exige/211 front, it looks like Lotus are heading for another stretch of 'wilderness years' equivalent to the period after the original Elan, Plus2, Europa ranges until the Mk1 Elise appeared.  Hopefully they will survive the next famine, but if it lasts 20 years again I fear I'll be too old to buy the next life saver.  Sad really.

heavenly car.  As long as some space behind the seats is retained to boost luggage volume, this will be such a fine piece of work.  Cant wait!
