I saw one of these on the road yesterday - design looked pretty smart.

I'm sure there will be plenty of debate about just buying a year old Audi instead, but there will I'm sure be a fair few people who would only consider buying new cars that would prefer to have something box fresh with a full warranty who will happily look at this car, with its Audi background only serving to help its cause - it is after all around the same price model for model as a VW Golf.

Can't get enough of that Volkswagen and Audi stuff...

This looks better than an Audi- and you can drive it without having to worry about the fact that Clarkson thinks you're a c 0 c k. Double bonus without the £5k saving.

I think these could be really good for someone running a company car (where buying a year old Audi isn't really an option) as you get a lot more kit and car within a given price bracket.

The problem I have is that my current Leon FR company car has "sports" suspension and over time it has become really wearing and is enough to put me off getting the "sports" (despite it being the nicer looking car) model of this to replace it later this year.Seems to be a bit like Audi was around the turn of the decade where sporty just meant rock hard.

That and my PD170 diesel has awful Diesel Particulate Filter problems......

Yes I saw one as well and agree with you. I still prefer the look of the old A4 to the new one anyway.

I had a look at the price/spec on the Seat website last night and it appear good value. Very well equiped and undercuts a Mondeo on price by at least £2k. It'll probably hold its value better as well.

If you haven't driven a particular car don't say you have just to prove a point. It doesn't fool anybody and is bloody annoying.

Looks good. An estate would be even better value, new or used. Any idea if one's on the way?

Definitely on the way, been unveiled! Think it's July-ish that it's out.

    "The cabin is dated"

Well it's not really.  Familiar, yes but I can't see why it would be called dated.

Overall, it's a clear simple design that is well built, has good ergonomics, and in my opinion is streets ahead of a lot of the opposition.  What's dated about that, I'll never know?

The rest of the package looks very persuading too.  Think this is going to be one for the savvy buyer.

    It's all about the twisties....

This would be the version that would suit me best.

Dan - Think of the old A4 Avant but with the Exeo's rear lights and you have the estate version.

I've always been of the opinion that if something needs to employ a superlative in it's title, it usually doesn't possess the quality implied by the superlative. You know what I mean, 'Quality Hotels' (yeah right), Mitsubishi Carisma (what charisma?) etc. Isn't it the same when a car manufacturer glues the word 'Sport' to the plastic rubbing strip on the side of a car? Doesn't that usually mean nothing more than ridiculously hard ride and some uncomfortable seats?

I know i'm on to a loser here but surely, if a car is sporty, you know it is sporty without having to see the word 'sport' in the model designation. How many Ferrari's or Lambo's have been called 'sport'?

    Answers on a postcard to...

do or do not. there is no try.

Cycling to work this morning i sat behind a Renault Trafic Sport at some traffic lights.....it looked like a Renault UK official product.

What the hell is that about?

Not my specialist subject, but just a point to note.  Ferrari name their cars in an equally stupid way, just look at their latest creation the 599HGTE  (Handling Grand Tourismo Evoluziones).

    Apparently it does handle though.

    It's all about the twisties....
