Half of London’s police cars could be either electric or air-powered within four years, Scotland Yard has announced.
As part of the plans, the Met would look to replace old cars with alternative fuel models in a bid to reduce CO2 emissions in the capital.
London police are already testing electric Smart cars and there are proposals to trial vehicles run on compressed air.
