Jaguar gave Shanghai show goers a sneak preview of the all-new XJ saloon.

A brief video image of the roof of the new car was flashed up at the end of the press presentation, and we have two photos in our image gallery.

The company also revealed some more details about its new flagship. The XJ will make its proper debut in London on 9 July, although it won't go on sale until the end of the year.

Jag has also confirmed that the new car will be launched in both short and long w...Read the full article

Nice, I like the idea of a better specs list and I can imagine quality will be better than previous models (well one can only hope :)). Not sure on the XF inspired looks though... Although I'll hold judgement until final pictures/renderings are out :D.

Already you can see that they've moved on from the box look of the old XJ.   This will be an excellent car, I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Wow, this is early for a teaser campaign! normally ths sort of thing starts with the shot of a wheelarch or something, not the full car, and starts around a week or two before the reveal, not 3 months!

Maybe Jaguar wants to start testing prototypes with less camouflage on, so figures we're all going to see the car anyway over the next few months.

Can't get enough of that Volkswagen and Audi stuff...

Jag quality has been as good as the Germans and Japanese for years and, if my failing memory serves correctly, they topped the US JD Power survey this year. However, old myths clearly die hard.

Also raises a one of the great mysteries of our time: Jag quality - outstanding but with a middling reputation! Land Rover quality from effectively the same company - really, really poor but with a seemingly bulletproof reputation!

I've had no serious issues wth Jaguar build quality or service in nearly 200,000 miles of driving them. As I remember, they far less troublesome than a number of 7 Series BMWs' I drove around a decade ago.

The XJ, in all it's forms, has been an excellent car from the X300 models onwards.

I look forward to seeing, and eventually driving, this new XJ.

Another myth; poor Land Rover reliability. You are living in the past my friend. The latest Freelander is doing well by all accounts (but is still tarnished by the shocking Freelander 1) as is the Range Rover. The Discovery 3 even came 4th in the latest JD Power rankings so they can't be too bad.

As for the XJ there are better pictures in Auto Express (think they are real rather than computer generated but can't remeber as I was stood reading it in the newsagents at the time) and it look pretty good and certainly better than the usualy German alternatives IMHO.

If you haven't driven a particular car don't say you have just to prove a point. It doesn't fool anybody and is bloody annoying.

Hey I like the look of the jag, but so far I only know what top looks like! My point is that the official picture shouldn't be top down view! Get it right guys...

No I'm affraid that was AutoExpress guesswork playing about with computer graphics :-)

As for these pics- it looks like it could be great. The current car is great to drive, hopefully the new car is as good to look at!

Thanks for that. AE has its faults but they are usually pretty accurate with there scoops. I hope it's accurate anyway - it looks good.

Some of the illustrations of the new XJ have been excellent, probably the most attractive large saloon since the original XJ. Unfortunately these won't look anything like the finished version. Jaguar are going to bottle it, just as they did with the XF. Grasping defeat from the jaws of victory. Why, for example, could the XF not have had the concepts headlights? They look immense, and when you see some of the incredibly complex headlights on small hatchbacks these days, eminently doable. Instead the design is ruined by the strange and unpopular things that made production. I'll be delighted to be wrong.

I've got that nagging feeling you may be right about that - all we can do is keep our fingers crossed. I'd agree that it's a strange time to come out with a teser shot nearly 3 months before the actual reveal. Usually it is small parts of an image shown maybe a week or two in advance.
