  • Lighter Murcielago here in ‘08

Lamborghini is rushing to unleash a monstrous, lightweight, rear-drive rocketship supercar late next year, as a last hurrah for Lamborghini’s Murcielago. To be dubbed the SV, Autocar understands that the new two-wheel drive Murcielago will be at least 100kg lighter than the Murcielago LP640’s 1660kgs. Aome insiders say the weight savings cou...Read the full article

Lambos are great. And taking the light-weight path will make them even better.  I hope  for a manual gear box option.

Sounds good, and ditching the four wheel drive will lose plenty of weight. But over 650 bhp through the rears will mean gargantuan wheels at the back wrapped in plenty of the sticky stuff to handle the power. Can't wait!!

Makes me wonder whatever they will do to replace the Murcielago. If memory serves me right, the base Murci had more horsepower than the end-of-the-line special Diablo GT. Does this mean 700 hp for the next super-Lambo. And what chassis will they base it on?

Who cares? Just say this is the peak of development for the line of Lambos going  back 40 years. This is has good as it gets I think? You can keep anything else from the competion I want this. Put me down for one please.

The only way they can beat this is by strapping a Saturn V to a carbonfibre g-string and a set of 22" wheels.

    Okay, maybe not.
