AC Cars has unveiled its latest incarnation of the classic Cobra. It's called the MKVI and has a Corvette engine and Porsche brakes.

AC Cars has joined into a “long-term strategic alliance” with German company Gullwing GmbH, which will be building the new cars at its factory in Heyda.

The MKVI will be handmade, with a part-aluminium body placed over a triangulated, jig-welded spaceframe chassis.

One engine will be offered, a Corvette 6.2-litre V8, with 437bhp for the GT and...Read the full article

Will this still be perceived as an "American Musclecar" if it is built in Germany?

(I realise it has British roots anyway)

Can't get enough of that Volkswagen and Audi stuff...

judging on the renders alone, that's an interesting interpretation of the definition of 'small' as far as the albatross wings go.....

Does this mean the AC Smart which was to be made in Wales is now dead?

Surely with such a low kerbweight they could get away with using a lighter , smaller capacity , more efficient engine and the car would still go like s**t off a shove while being better balanced..Might be relatively slightly greener . Or are they getting the Corvette engines on a BOGOF basis ?

That's never been the "character" of the AC Cobra though.  For such a small scale car, the emissions are pretty much academic.  Small engine in a Cobra would be an automotive equivalent of Diet Coke or skimmed milk, fair enough the taste is there, but somethings always going to be missing.

    It's all about the twisties....

Good question, I've been wondering what happened to this. Where is the modern version of the MGB GT or equivalent?
