    Apr 11, 2009 11:37 AM

Italian car designer and coachbuilder Pininfarina has agreed a contract with train company Eurostar to redesign and refurbish its fleet of cross-channel trains.

The contract is good news for the Italian coachbuilder, which has been battling against heavy losses, and the death of its chairman and CEO Andrea Pininfarina last summer

The Eurostar rail service began operating 15 years ago, and the Pininfarina contract, which is being overseen by the French train operator SNCF, will inst...Read the full article

Instead of wasting money on the Scottish Parliament and jobs for the boys, they should have sorted this out, but we could have got down to where stuff really happens and rioted and been back in the same day, am not apologizing for going off subject on Autocar, they mentioned Eurostar.

Used the train a few times, all the changes and different train compaines it is more hastle than its worth, I'll stick with the car, saying that use the train all the time when on the continent.

    I am pleased for Pininfarina!

Also I like Eurostar and the lounges they have at either end are fantastic!! if you get a chance to go into the lounges go in!! (230L it will change your mind); I think you need a "silver" level traveller card minimum.....I have not been on it for ages...I am not sure if it has changed....i.e. with the cards/silver level.

At least Pinin gets some work to keep it going for a while - please give it back the Peugeot contract!

Although I get the feeling a lot of its more talented designers will have departed to pastures new by now due to lack of work.

Can't get enough of that Volkswagen and Audi stuff...

considering the huge pots of cash eurostar make, you'd think they could splash out on something a little more extravagant - like valentino skin tone/tangerine velour interiors. or - just get with the program - realise they arent making any money - and do something to raise public awareness and/or sympathy like giving the contract to redesign the trains to french or english design students in a contest of some description.

Wonder if, to finish it off, they'll stick those cool Pininfarina badges on the side of the train?  Hope so.

I too am pleased its good news for them - they need it and a design house like Pininfarina shouldn't disappear.

Like others I wholeheatedly agree and hope that they should work for Peugeot again and bring back the good (design) times instead of Pug creating the fugly cars that they try and push on us right now.

Strange isn't it how PSA seem to rarely be able to get both of their brands creating good design simultaneously, its like they take it in turns to raid the stylish design cupboard.
