    Figures to be released later today are expected to show that UK car manufacturing has fallen 60 per cent year-on-year.

    The data, which will be released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, will show how many cars and commercial vehicles were made in February.

    The dramatic drop in production is not a surprise, however.

    Does anyone know - and I can almost hear horseand rustling his papers - what impact this has had on stocks of unsold cars? Are they getting pushed down to a sustainable level?

    Don't know but I think not.

    Anyone noticed the corresponding figure for commercial vehicle production in Feb?

    down 72%. snakes alive!

     I reckon there are still car parks and runways full of unsold cars. Anyone remember the fanfare that Land Rover made when they announced the Discovery would be getting the new 240bhp Jag diesel engine in March? No mention of it on their website which I think means they haven't got rid of the old stock yet. Of course, the other pointer is that they are offering £7,500 off a new one!
