Autocar:A production version of the Dacia Duster concept seen at the recent Geneva motor show will be launched in 2010, and is likely to be unveiled by the Romanian car firm at next year’s Geneva show.
This is excellent news - assuming the production Duster stays reasonably close to the concept. Dacia desperately needs a 'halo' model, and an innovative, keenly priced SUV/crossover could be just the thing. Yes, SUV sales have plummeted - but by the time the Duster is launched, they should have stabilised (or even started improving), with the Duster benefiting from existing 4x4 owners downsizing or down-spending.
Dacia is a popular brand where I live in Spain, with the Logan and Sandero a common sight. But something along the lines of the Duster could raise the company's profile even further. Bring it on!
