    This is the next-generation Mercedes-Benz SLK spied testing in Germany far in advance of its debut in showrooms in 2012.

    The new SLK will not be a radical departure from the current model; it remains a two-seat, rear-drive roadster with a two-piece folding hard-top. Mercedes has decided against adding two occasional seats in the rear (in the style of the Audi TT) to increase the car’s practicality.

    Lets face it, under this disguise this could pretty much be the current model excluding the faux F1 nose. The flanks look pretty featureless and the glasshouse hasn't changed shape.

    I'd guess this will probably take styling cues from the new Gull wing model rather than the current road cars, and have an androgynous almost feminine look completely lacking aggression to make sure it doesn't alienate itself from the target audience - while that's a good thing for sales, this is also the reason that will stop me from ever desiring to own one personally, unless AMG do a better job this time round.
