  • Alfa Mito GTA revealed

These are the first official images of the Alfa Romeo Mito GTA, to be previewed by a 'production-ready' concept at next week's Geneva motor show.

The GTA gets Fiat's all-new 1.8-litre turbocharged engine, equipped with direct injection and variable valve timing, It produces a hefty 240bhp; that should be enough to give the Mito GTA the pace to worry the Mini John Cooper Works.

The car sits 20mm lower than a regular Mito, and features revised front suspension geometry and an 'active...Read the full article

Wow, amid all the doom and gloom , something so stunning really cheers one up ! Another lovely looking Alfa , this time it sounds like it really will go as well as it looks . Having recently driven a Mito I have to say they really do seem well screwed together as well .

Front bumper / nose treatment looks a lot more successful than on the standard car.

The only thing that worries me is the suspension set up.  In recent times Alfa have not been very successful on getting the chassis bit right, so here's hoping this time.

If not, a Prodrive version (like the Brera) could be interesting....

    It's all about the twisties....

One angry looking beasty. Like Teg though, I fear the drive won't match the looks.. it's just screaming torque steer.. 240bhp through a front drive Punto based chassis, hmm

I can see where you're coming from, it maybe a bit on a nail.

But when something looks this good, costs this much, and has bits of Carbon Fibre tinsel, I couldn't care less what it drives like. Honestly, I love driving, but when it comes down to it, people buy cars for how they make you feel, and this car deserves to sell like no other car on that basis.

    Just a shame it won't...

Looks like the 8Cs fat ugly sister.....

Except she's had some surgery done.

Better than buying a mini to avoid the masses choice. Until you get out onto that B-road, where I'd imagine the mini would pull its pants down

This looks a lot better than the aftermarket F430 front end clone thats been doing the rounds. I do think it will have to justify itself in the handling deptartment though, performance cars like these get bought by buyers of car magazines like this one,and generally take a keener interest in cars than other buyers. If the automotive press slate it on a performance or handling basis, then it won't do well.

Even more than needing to do well on the driving dynamic front (which is important enough), this and the rest of the Mito range, indeed all Alfas, need to start doing better in the customer satisfaction surveys. That's what will help Alfa Romeo to be successful in the long term.

Lucky for you weened, I think they intend to have a DSG-esque box on this as well as the standard 6speed manual!

I think it will handle just fine, most people will not be able to use any where near its full capability and on public roads and that goes for the Mini also.

So we will wait and see, but my money is on the Mito and not the Mini.......as for torque steer, did not everyone say the same about the new RS......and look how that turned out.

The crown Mini has had in many areas has now all gone......Fiat ripped BMW appart on strategy and between the 500 and the Mito will rip it appart in sales.......Mini is dying

With the Citreon DS coming along also....the new Fiesta et al.....Mini is now in a coma and soon will be looking very much more ill indeed....

    Well done Fiat!
