Chery has previously said that it intends to become a major force in western markets.

This late-model prototype was caught testing near the Lotus HQ in Norfolk, suggesting that the British company is helping with the final chassis tweaks and powertrain calibration.

Reports from China say that the car should be availab...Read the full article

It looks like what would happen if Proton tried to do a coupe.

I was just thinking exactly that. They will not be able to badge it that here. The glass house and overall profile has a similarity to the Alfa GT too methinks. With Suzuki SX4 headlights and jazzed up Kia Rio sedan tail-lights. More generic, plagiarised, car-design-by-photoshop, Chinese muck. I can't wait.

I've seen worse, and if Lotus have been allowed to do their job properly (unlike so many times with Proton), then this could be a cracking drivers car.

Add in to that the potential low price, they could be on to a winner.

    It's all about the twisties....

I agree but think it's biggest problem could be prejudice. When i first saw the picture I thought it was an Infiniti or similar and thought it was OK. When I found out it was Chinese I went right off it. Maybe this could be the first half decent Chinese car.

If you haven't driven a particular car don't say you have just to prove a point. It doesn't fool anybody and is bloody annoying.

    here is the Chery website:

They have some right motors on it!!.....that QQ6 from the side looks like an extra from the telly tubbies!

I am sure they will get better (for sure they will) and bring in more design etc but it shows just how advanced the cars are in the west......they will be probably very cheap though!

lets not laugh and scoff at the chinese too much...they are very quick leaners and i for one think this coupe handsome.

There are a large number of european consultancies desperate for work right now and just when european manufacturers can`t afford to pay them, the chinese will step in and use these talents.

Sure they make some odd looking cars but they are not for european consumption, we should worry about the A6 etc.

My wife has made a very good point.

If you crash this car does it mean you pop your chery?

So some of you want to turn your noses up at this car and sneer at at because it's Chinese?

We never, ever learn do we!

It will be interesting to see who comparing Britain and China will have the greater motor industry 20 years from now won't it??

The reason for that is because up to now at least Chinese cars have been awefull. They are unsafe (see crash tests on youtube if you don't believe me) or are poor copies of western cars. I agree that given time Chinese cars will come on and may even be world leaders. But not yet.

For sure I think they will come along, some of the cars in a way remind me of the early Japanese cars....the Nissan Bluebird. I think they will do really well given time and as has been said above there are good consultancies out in the world.

The QQ6 (from the side) is quite funny though! I am not being car snobby (no way); I think they will progress a lot and get it right......good on them for getting into it.....I cannot fualt that!..it just made me smile!

On a different note, I read in the paper that to get one of the car loans (gov. backed or whatever they are), your business needs to be turning over more than £25m per year.....thus I think that rules out any of the small UK owned car firms (I am not being down on the gov. but I do not think that is good..I think its ashame).

However, on the up side, Honda F1 (or soon to be UK racing I think) is thinking of having a go at getting a loan (so I read).....
