  • Revised Range Rover snapped

    Jan 22, 2009 8:26 AM

A refreshed Range Rover, powered by JLR’s new supercharged 5.0-litre V8, has been confirmed for an April on-sale date.

This lightly disguised prototype doesn’t hide the mild exterior revisions that Land Rover has made to the Range Rover.

Behind the perforated ‘bumper-bra’ are a new grille, headlamps and bumper moulding, while tape over the tail lamps hides new LED lights.

A mildly revised interior includes a new steering wheel, chrome trim around the centre console and revis...Read the full article

Supercharged 5.0 litre V8? New bumpers and a bit of chrome on the dashboard? Phew! For a minute there, I thought they might have come up with something that would tempt customers back into showrooms.

Whats the collective name for a group of footballers standing in a car park wearing 1970's ties cooing over snazzy new LED brake lights?

    The 5.0 litre v8 petrol...irrelevant.

The new V6 with loads of torque and a sensible power output is welcome though. Hopefully it won't be so rattly when you start it from cold either.

Weird, vindictive little oaf who can't accept defeat and who is now trying to besmirch Land Rover's reputation. Pathetic. Get a life.

New Range Rover looks fantastic !

Ho! ho! ho! stop my sides are hurting, don't give up your day job. Talking of which - how much do you and your mates with the pressure washer charge for a Range Rover?

Kids nowa'days, 10 post and they know it all.

I'd be surprised if you have a Range Rover. You're jealousy and resentment betrays you.

    To LRH

I can understand your disappointment with the faults on your vehicle and the poor dealer service; the fact that you have created a web page dedicated to the subject speaks volumes, but I cannot fathom your continuing vendetta with Land Rover, and childish way that you continue to discredit the company on other message boards and forums.

Having spent twenty-five years in After-sales – Service and Warranty, with franchised dealers, I have dealt with many customer complaints. I can assure you that all manufacturers have similar problems, whether through poor design or cost cutting on components – volume and premium brands alike, European or Japanese, no one is immune from faults.

From experience, without being simplistic, I know that owners underestimate the complexity of their vehicles and the sheer number of components, from various suppliers with differing quality controls, used in their creation.  Often, no matter how much testing is carried out before the launch of a new vehicle, it is only when the cars are used in the ‘real world’ that faults become apparent, and then it takes time to effect a solution and put that into production.

If you could compare an early Discovery 3, just off the line, with a current vehicle, after almost five years of production the new car would have much enhanced reliability.

With respect, it’s time you moved on.
