These are the first official pictures of the V10 Audi R8, the fastest, most powerful version of Audi’s Porsche-baiting mid-engined supercar.

This range-topping Audi R8 goes on sale in the middle of next year and will cost £99,575 for the six-speed manual version and £104,675 for the R-tronic paddle-shift ’box. Its V10 powerplant is based on the unit from the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, but it has been detuned in the Audi.

methinks the 911 is well and truly f**ked, by there in house friends haha. Cant wait for this car, if the V8 is anything to go by!!!

Yeah, reckon so. With the Nissan GT-R and now this, they've got to come out fighting !

Glad to see it looks a little butcher than the V8 version, it's just a shame it is not a bit more like the R8 LMS, which looks a lot more purposeful.

€142,400 is the stated price in its home-market. I'd lay odds that come launch in UK the price will be revised upwards. Otherwise they may as well just give them away as a loss-leading brand-bulider.

Sounds good value. R8 with a V8 is €180,000 in Ireland. Still, its a savage thing to drive.

That's an awfully big price rise over the V8 version, and getting dangerously close to Gallardo territory.
