  • Update: Porsche Panamera

Porsche’s enigmatic Panamera continues to be revealed in all its glory in this latest batch of official pictures.

These studio shots show just how unusual the combination of volumes are that make up the Porsche Panamera body.

It is not as smoothly surfaced as it first appeared, with a marked raised centre section on the bonnet and exaggerated rear wings with a raised ridge running along them.

And despite the deep vent let into the side and the separate sill cover, the und...Read the full article

    Interesting.

These pictures reveal much more of the car than previously shown, and in doing so display a completely different side to it!

No it still isn't a looker but a couple of facts have jumped out on me about it.

Firstly, I get the feeling it is going to be one of those cars that is extremely colour critical.  Certainly from the shots, it looks much better in the blue than it does in the silver.  Styling cues, such as the bonnet look a lot better in the darker colour.

The next thing is the detailing.  It reminds me a lot of Porsche's of old - read 928 / 944 / 968 with regards to the thought and detail that has gone in to the design, streets ahead of the Cayenne.  I guess you could say it looks like it is going to have character.  I will be seriously interested to get in and have a prod round!

I am also definitely more convinced that it will look better in the flesh than it does in the pictures.  Striking more than beautiful I would guess.

    We shall see!

    It's all about the twisties....

I think it's going to be a bloody disaster.  If it had been incomparably lovely it might have stood a vague chance.  Wrong car, wrong time. Hubris.

    Bring back Steel Wheels.

I agree, and although it's not gasp-at-first-sight beautiful, I'm intrigued to have a look at one in the metal. And although this may well have compromised the looks, it appears to be a proper four seater, whereas the Rapide will be a 2+2 at best, which given that Aston already has one of those, seems remarkably pointless.
