Have to say, the Michelin Pilot Sport tyres on our long-term A5 do feel mighty in the dry. They don't feel too shabby in the wet, either, but now I know there's a better option, I'll be putting Eagle F1s when the time comes.

I always thought Pirellis were the way to go; seems P-Zeros still have a long way to develop before they're as good as everyone thinks they are.

Obviously not the remit of a performance tyre test, but of great importance to a 30,000 miles-per-year driver like me, are the ride and road noise characteristics. The latter is a real problem with my last-generation Mondeo, any thoughts?

Matt, I'm with you. Some time ago on a previous tyre test performed by Autocar, it was concluded that overall the Pirrelli P-Zero Rosso was the best available. I am mistified that A. They are languishing last

    B. How have they managed to fall so far from grace in a short space of time.

I thought tyres by all manufacturers were on a continuous development program.
