  • Official details: Nissan 370Z

    Nov 19, 2008 5:37 PM

Nissan has released official details of the new 370Z ahead of the coupe’s launch early in 2009.

The Nissan 370Z is shorter than the outgoing 350Z (4224mm, compared with 4312mm) and has a shorter wheelbase (2550mm versus 2649mm); Nissan says that this should sharpen the handling.

The new Z-car’s squat shape has been altered to improve aerodynamics. It’s much lighter, too, at 1466kg compared with the Nissan 350Z’s 1621kg. Reducing weight has been a key priority for Nissan’s engineer...Read the full article

This looks like it has been developed by some serious petrol head engineers.  The written word appears to show that this should be a serious car, a mini GT-R almost.

    A truly mouth watering prospect.

    It's all about the twisties....

    155kg Weight reduction.

    Shorter wheelbase.

    Bigger brakes.

    Aluminium bodywork.

    327bhp.

    Brilliant.

Only badge snobbery will stand in the way.

Oh............and that silly self blipping throttle.

I agree it sounds like a great car - an evolution of the current, which as an owner can say is a great driver's car.

The only thing I would question is how well will it be received. It's a tough time to sell 2 seat sports cars with big v6 engines at the moment and my 350z has taken a £10k hit in less than 1year in terms of its value.

This is something clearly out of Nissan's control but I just hope that it doesn't adversely impact the success of this car if it's as good as it promises to be!
