So, as a snaphot, jdub, me casanova and pdmc all look back longingly
at the Pugs of the 80s and 90s, and yet, prior to the downturn,
Peugeots were selling better than ever. Who is buying them? The 207,
horrid as it is, was the best selling car in Europe, a feat non of the
previous Pugs could manage.
I guess the whole build
quality/safety thing sells cars, whereas I don't give a hoot about
build quality and don't care much more for safety, but want my cars to
be light, playful and fun. Like Peugeots of old.
Ne'ermind, I'll console myself tonight with a thrash in my 1988 205 1.9gti.
Art as expression, not as market campaigns.
Will still capture our imagination.
