  • Spied: Peugeot 3008

    Nov 19, 2008 11:43 AM

Our spy photographers have captured the first undisguised pictures of the Peugeot 3008.

The ‘crossover’ is based on the 308 hatchback, and is meant to combine MPV practicality with occasional off-road ability. Apart from the absence of concept car jewelry, the 3008 is little changed from the Peugeot Prologue concept car that was revealed at the Paris motor show in October.

The most obvious rival to the 3008 is the Nissan Qashqai, which has enjoyed considerable success across Europe...Read the full article

    ANOTHER dreadfully ugly Peugeot!

Whatever happened to the good looks of the 406 Coupe, 205, and 306?

Think a designer somewhere should be shot!

Actually, I like this a lot more than the 308 and 207 which are just hideous.  I adore my 205s and the 406 I had but in just a couple of generations they've gone so wrong.  This car loses the horrible front bumper and fussy, ugly frontal shape for a much cleaner, more elegant design in my opinion.

Maybe a touch better than the 308 and 207 but still nowhere near as good as the 80's and 90's stunners!

They even used to handle back then, now they have become very staid.

I think Citroen are becoming the better brand of PSA... (C4, C5 and C6 are  proper cars)

Dear God, for the love of all things Peugeot, that is hideous!!

As a previous owner of 5 205s, 304, 2 306s and a 406, all of which I loved, I am deeply upset by the current, and recent, Peugeot range.

Boring, mediocre, ugly cars one and all.

    Hold on everyone!

Don't worry it's not a Peugeot, its a prototype Audi with a Peugeot badge on for disguise.

What ever happened to the NCAP pedestrian safety regs?  It looks like this will dice, chop and slice any potential accident victim.

    It's all about the twisties....

I used to adore Peugeot. I had a 405 GRi 1.9. I lusted after the 306 GTi-6 and fell in love with the 406 and 406 Coupe at first sight. Seems like those were cars from an altogether different manufacturer. This is yet another busy, fat, pug ugly, saggy jowled pile of crap. I hate it. I hate it in the photos and I hated it at the Paris show. Its dross. Its time now to quit fannying around with the crayons Peugeot, employ some proper designers and build us some elegant and feline looking cars that look like the RC Hymotion4 concept. Stuff that people generally find attractive and cars that people actually WANT to drive. As they used to when it came to your brand. Ford have taken your mantle as supreme ride & handling balance, chassis chefs... What are you going to do about it?

I love Peugeots, and think the big grilles work well - they give Peugeot a really strong identity. It works particularly well on the little 107, which also drives brilliantly. The 1007 is probably the one where the grille is most out of place. I like this, but I'm not sure about the grille - it's a bit toothy! And hang on - these photos were on dutch car magazine AutoWeek's website a few days ago. Hmm.

So, as a snaphot, jdub, me casanova and pdmc all look back longingly at the Pugs of the 80s and 90s, and yet, prior to the downturn, Peugeots were selling better than ever. Who is buying them? The 207, horrid as it is, was the best selling car in Europe, a feat non of the previous Pugs could manage.

I guess the whole build quality/safety thing sells cars, whereas I don't give a hoot about build quality and don't care much more for safety, but want my cars to be light,  playful and fun. Like Peugeots of old.

    Ne'ermind, I'll console myself tonight with a thrash in my 1988 205 1.9gti.

Who on earth designs cxxp like this?  The body looks so overweight it makes the wheels look tiny, the headlamps look tiny because of the over wide middle section and the badge is so large it would fit just right on a HGV vehicle.  Ugly is an understatement.  Some people say it depends on personal taste, but there is a limit to that rule.  I just hope that when somebody buys this garbage, it comes with a free psychiatrist!!

Peugeot sack the stylists, that is if you actually employ any and create some cars to be proud of.  Also reduce the size of your cars as they are much larger than they are supposed to be in each model range, even more than the competition.  This increases weight, lowers mpg and makes it harder to park.  It also makes it less likely to fit into the average garage.  You may be able to drive into the garage, but you cannot open the door to get out.
