These are the first official pictures of the hotly anticipated Nissan 370Z coupe, which goes on sale early next year.

Very much an evolution of the now six-year old 350Z, the essential proportions and curved roof of the Z car remains the same, but its shape is deliberately tighter, tauter and more squat than its forebear.

Hmmm, on first viewing I don't think the design is as cohesive as the current 350Z. That rear haunch seems at odds with the window line, and those weird "slashed" head and tail lights don't gel somehow. It seems to have lost its muscle-bound proportions..........maybe it'll look better in the metal.

I'm sure it'll be a cracking drive, but lets pray that the new engine isn't a CO2 monster - If its in the highest tax band and gets released in time for the government's "Showroom tax" - I don't fancy its chances in the sales charts

As long as they've ditched the Fisher Price cabins that blight the current model and also the RX-8. This is all that holds these cars back; although the general build is very good, some of the cheaper plastics have no place in a car that rivals ze Germans...

The pics may be a little misleading but the profile appears to be paying a slightly more muscular homage to the original 240Z which can't be a bad thing!

Oh dear, it looks like it should be appearing in the next Cars film from Disney. The bonnet is to long compared to the rest of the body, the old car was perfectly proportioned and looked great, this one doesn't, shame!!!

 ....and has nobody mentioned those ludicrous vertical door handles !
