Having read your report on the Twingo GT and having looked at a number of small city cars I plumped for the Twingo.
Its everything you say it is much quicker off the mark than my last french fancy, the Pug 207.
I would call it the next substitute to the BMW Mini (having owned two) , less expensive by far and full of kit. My only real gripe is the Radio. Being that small cars are far more difficult to keep quite on the roads, the Radio volume needs to be increased quite a bit while at speed, even 60mph you find it hard to listen too. Its fine on motorways too, it outstrips most 1.4s and 1.6 cars and can keep up with the 1.8s quite easily. The Turbo gives added punch for overtaking so unlike some small engined cars you dont feel intimidated about pulling out and getting past before the oncoming traffic are upon you.
As for room, yes it only sits four but its seating design is great for so many diffrent ways to increase its capacity for loads. Anyway, its a city car, what more would you expect.
At the moment a half tank of petrol (20ltrs) has given me 200miles, so the potential is there for 400miles plus from a tank. The problem is its so much fun to drive your bound to loose on MPG until you get use to the car.
Its looks? Mmmmmmm jury is still out on that one. To me it looks "mean", its not cute like the 500, its not clever like the Pug 107, Citreon or Toyota. But its very practical and you can get a full pro set of Golf Clubs on board.
For the money, which lets face it is expensive you do get a great fun car to drive and full of just about every comfort you could wish for.
Cruise Control? On our roads!! Come on folks lets not laugh, it is an extra, but you would be silly to get it.
The Twingo Sport is now in the Showroom but at 133BHP and a shade under £12,000 its a bit much for a rocket skate board.
Lets hope the MK3 comes with a 6 speed gearbox though, you just keep looking for it as you get to 5000rpm.
Great Car, have test drive, you will walk away with a smile on your face.
