  • Spied: Audi TT-RS Roadster

Our spy photographers have snapped confirmation that a cabriolet version of the stunning new Audi TT-RS is under development in Germany.
These latest pictures of the TT-RS Roadster come just days after we brought you these images of Ingolstadt’s blistering TT-RS coupe running hot laps of the Nurburgring.

Are you sure it wont just have a version of the 3.0 Supercharged V6 engine from the S4?Seems a bit excessive for Audi to launch such a unique engine in such a low volume car - unless it plans to put it in other cars in its range - cant imagaine which though? RS3 perhaps?

Also, isnt £45,000 a bit overpriced? Thats more than £10,000 over the TT-S! The RS4 (with a 414bhp 4.2 V8) cost 'only' £49.999 at its launch just a couple of years ago.

I think that the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 will only ever be used in longitudinal applications. Being Golf-based the TT is a transverse-engined car.

It's the engine that will/ will not power the top-spec Golf (as argued about exhaustively in previous thread). I imagine it's considerably lighter than the V6, with the TT-RS presumably meant to be (finally) capable of delivering a real challenge to the Boxster/ Cayman. But yes, I agree: £45K is mad money for a TT.
