  • Paris show: Mazda MX-5

    Mazda has taken the covers of its facelifted MX-5 at today’s Paris show.
    The most noticeable update to the popular two-seat roadster is a more aggressive face, made up of freshly reshaped headlights, a deeper grille and more pronounced, black fog light surrounds.
    Laurens Van den Acker, head of Mazda design, said the mild update was intended to make the car “look more aggressive and assertive. We also needed to bring the styling more in line with the current range.”

    I'm not sure that this is neccessarily a good way to promote a car these days. Aside from that I think they have done a good job, managing to keep the nice lines of the classic MX5 whilst bringing its looks more in line with the other cars in their range. It will be interesting to see what it looks like on the road on a nice sunny day.

    Looks like one of the Peugeot designers has joined Mazda's design team.
