The FIA has rejected the appeal made by the McLaren team against the 25-second penalty that was imposed on Lewis Hamilton after the Belgian Grand Prix.

Despite winning the race, and celebrating victory on the podium, Hamilton was later stripped of victory after he was judged to have cut a chicane during a last-minute dice with Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, who crashed before the end of the race.

Much has already been said on this, but did you ever think the FIA would back down and admit they were wrong? I didn't..........

Not surprised and really don't much care either.

 No surprises there then. The kangaroos, sorry, court appear to have sat with their fingers in their ears while singing "La la la la, our rulebook is preventing us from hearing you."

Is there anything that FOTA can do to dispense with F1 Idiots Association and Burnsie Ecclestone? I'm not intimately aware of the machinations behind F1 and it's TV rights etc, but surely the teams could appoint their own governing body?

I imagine that the introduction of KERS, while giving a cursory nod to the environment is costing the teams a small fortune to develop. If the teams had a greater share of the TV revenue, of which 50% I beleive, is gobbled up by Burnsie, could they distribute it somewhat more evenly, rendering the "cost cutting measures", (like KERS?!) to be the irrelevances that they are perceived to be?

Is there any way for F1 to lose Burnsie and the FIA and run it's own ship?
 

 

What a disgrace these people wasted time and money fighting a case that never was.  It should have been called inadmissible at the time McLaren raised the appeal.It should be questioned why the stewards took so long to call the penalty in the first place as this could still have been served during the race.  Lewis could have won in the pit lane as Schumi did a few years ago at Silverstone, or would this have been more embarrassing?

 

 Remind me.....When Schumi decided in his infinite wisdom to ram into Jacques Villeneuve to give new meaning to "derailing someone's title hopes" which, happily, came to nothing more than Villenueve winning the championship that year did our German friend get any fine or points deducted ?   Mmmmm, I suspected as not.....Nor was he demoted for stalling his car on the racing-line at Monaco the year before he gave us all a break by leaving F1 and immediately turning it in something slightly more interesting than paint-drying.......

 
Can Bernie et al get it into their minds that we are completely bored stiff with a Ferrari driver winning every year (with all the rules bent to their favour) especially when they are not nearly as good as Jenson Button, not along Hamilton or Alonso......
 

Actually in 1997 Schumacher was stripped of all his champioship points for that move on Villeneuve. But I don't think that all that criticism towards the FIA is fair. Hamilton and McLaren are bending every rule they can (need I remind you last year's spying scandal?) trying just way too hard to beat their Italian rivals and get penalised. It was obvious that Hamilton did gain an advantage, even though in the end it would not matter, as Raikkonen crashed out of the race. He has to be more patient and prudent if he is to become a champion though. Too much juvenile hotheadedness from his part I reckon. As for the verdict... technically it was correct.

Never was? THe FIA cheated Hamilton couldn't help but cross the grass, realised what he'd done and immediately reacted accordingly; even if thir backing down was never going to happen.

 

Hamilton won that race, even if he comes second this year I will regard it as a draw.

 If anyone suitably informed would like to comment, I would still like to know if, and if so how, the teams could dispose of the FIA and Ecclestone and set up on their own, with or without Ferrari, who undermined the previous attempt, by committing themselves sexually, financially or like garlic, rosemary and salt to the aforementioned organisations?

The " FOTA Championship", held between the remainder of the teams would interest me more than the " Ferrari Cup", a fascinating series of races between two red cars, administered by the FIA and sold to the world by Monty Ecclestone....

Aside from my naivety, what is preventing this?
