Audi has released pictures and spec details for the new S4 saloon and estate, ahead of its debut at next week’s Paris show.

As previously reported, the company has ditched the old S4’s 4.2-litre V8 engine and replaced it with a new supercharged, direct-injection 3.0-litre V6, producing 329bhp and 325lb ft of torque.

Will be interesting to see if the new S4 is really a "lite" version of the RS4 with its revised four wheel drive system supposedly improved dynamics.

If so, it will make a truely interesting car that will at last take the fight to BMW's 335i, especially considering recent Audi RS models are starting to get a little OTT.

You'd lose a fortune in depreciation.

 A 3.0TDI would be a better bet in the real world.
