Porsche has released the first official picture of the Porsche Panamera.

The picture shows just the new Panamera's front end, which clearly borrows heavily from the established 911/Boxster/Cayman look. It's recognisably a Porsche.

The Panamera is Porsche's first-ever production four-door and will provide the platform for the next generation Cayenne too.

which further highlights that the Cayenne is not a real Porsche....

This preview strikes me as being in the same vein as Subaru's attempt to reveal the Impreza redesign without actually showing the world just how wrong they had got it.  Lets hope that the person who designed the rear end isn't the same one that designed the Cayenne rump.

The Cayenne would be classed as a 5 door car, hence the Pamamera is the first 4 door.

i'd quite like one of these. ...or maybe a new honda accord instead.

emmm... from the picture i seen so far it looks ugly like the 4x4... shame porsche should stick to sports cars like 911 mabye even make a new supercar rather then making ugly cars like this.

 

 Gosh, how radical, how different to all the other Porsches.  Must have paid the designers a fortune to come up with a new look. 

If nothing else I like the name.

Somehow I find "Panamera" very evocative. Evocative of what, I have absolutely no idea, but there you are.

 Of the Carrera Panamericana perhaps?

I like the zoomed out photo. It's a bit like a long lost sibling poking his head round a corner to see the rest of his family.

Should be a great car to drive at the very least. I think it will turn out quite nice to look at too. Like a stretched Cayman.
