  • Bugatti plans Veyron replacement

    Aug 22, 2008 10:15 PM

Bugatti boss Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen has said that the company will replace the Veyron supercar around 2012 with another ultra high-end model. The confirmation confounds previous speculation that Bugatti would be wound-up when Veyron production comes to an end.
“We will be staying on top of everybody else and we will not be producing a smaller, or cheaper car and we will not be moving volumes up. Bugatti customers are very extreme people,” he told Autocar.

Yahoo!  I love news like this.  Even if it's years away, a faster 1200bhp Veyron, a hopefully worthy successer thereafter, and possibly a Bentley Bugatti, or Bugatti Bentley...?  Reasons to be cheerful, pt 4.

And yes, I'm as readily accepting of the fact I may... I SHALL probably never drive one, and I'm as aware of the debates over eco-disasters and possibly pointless overweight supercars - didn't the Caparo T1 make this feel like a tank?  What the heck, a few hundreds of these floating around the world is testament to the superior minds of engineers and technicians, much more creative than nasty politicians and bureaucrats.

Whew!  And now the wait..... and the endless teaser articles in mags like.... Yours!  Can't wait.  Hurry up!

Oh the people of the United Arab Emirates must be delighted. They can continue to order orange and matt black ones and be happy in their lives.

I thought orders for the standard car had already virtually dried up, and that Bugatti were struggling to even sell half of the originally planned 300 car production run.

The Mercedes Mclaren SLR springs to mind....

Instead of building another redict-O-car why not consider manufacturing something that could be relevant and raced at Lemans. It’s not like they are going to land the thing on Mars, the internal combustion engines been around for a long time and they have not broken any new ground in automobile design mechanically or visually, that thing is one ugly spud. I have no doubt if they stack another engine in front of the current one the car would be extremely fast, hell they might reach speeds of 300 miles an hour. God knows I’m all for wretched excess but what is the purpose or goal, a Bonneville  racer…nope, haven’t seen one at the flats to date. Maybe a race car…nope, not racing in any series I am aware of. So it’s transportation for the stupid rich that will never use a tenth of its potential, a waste of good money if you ask me. If straight line speed is what it’s all about then strap a rocket on back and be done with it. Hell if it’s just an exercise in wretched excess these guys do it for less…

     Ultimate Aero

So why would you pay more for the worlds second fastest car?

because a Veyron is a good half-a-foot narrower, and that means that it fits on roads outside north america

Wretched excess ? America ? Surely not ! Why is it that Americans think they can make cars anyway ?

Because a couple Americans built a car faster than the Bugatti and it only needed half the cylinders and turbos. As far as the width of the car goes I don’t think many Aero owners will be driving through UK cow pastures anyway.

Yes, that is SO the definition of knowing how to make a real car. I am quite sure that this car will be remembered far more than the Bugatti.

Long Hose is just pissed off because he rushed out and bought a Veyron and now realises he could have bought a faster, marginally less embarassing SSC Aero, a huge box of Nestle Aeros, and £500,000 change.

You American Julian ?! I thought you were English. Either way, it seems clear that you don't know much about cars.

TBH - I find all hyper cars like the Veyron completely tedious.

Is that because most Americans don't have passports or because cars need to be able to go round corners in the UK? Or both?

Mind you, at least America owns some decently sized car manufacturers....

In this world gone mad, we won't spank the monkey, the monkey will spank us!
