The new Ford Fiesta has arrived in the UK – and we can confirm that it looks great on British roads.

I've seen a number, always with trade plates, going around the Dagenham/Hornchurch area for the last two months or so.  One of them is a very nasty pale green colour.

I saw the Fiesta at the motor show and i reckon it looks superb. Problems is though the looks still lack that final 'premium' look that Ford has been striving so hard to achieve over the last few years with its cars and compared to the Alfa MiTo and, possibly the forthcoming Audi A1, the Fiesta looks mass-market. And i was disappointed with the interior quality plastics - a long way off the Mondeo and Focus' feel. 

 Though the exterior design is a vast improvement on the current car (which I own) and brings it right up to date.

 It is a real shame that the interior, full of so much promise in the early design concepts has been so badly executed.

 It has a less premium feel than the current car, using some of the cheapest, nastiest plastics that you wouldn't even find on a Kia or Hyundai these days.

I immediately compared it to the Mazda 2 on the next stand which is so much better.

It is a shame that Ford have done this to what promises to be a dynamically good car though Mazda will no doubt take the lion's share of sales.

I quite like the New Fiesta, but I too found the interior plastics a bit cheap, with the beige colour scheme which is available making it even worse. However, the New Fiesta is available in some cracking colours, making those on offer in some competitors a bit bland. The lime green, which is called 'Squeeze' is stunning, and really quite purposeful. The Fiesta is at its best, in my opinion, in Titanium specification.
