Aston Martin is building an all-new, super-exclusive coupe codenamed the One-77, the company has announced. The Aston Martin One-77 will launch in late 2009 with an eye-watering £1.2 million pricetag.

Super-affluent owners will be able to get involved with the design and development of the Aston Martin One-77 to an unprecedented extent. They will get access to the company’s top designers and engineers, will have cars minutely tailored to their own requirements, and will even be encouraged...Read the full article

I wish Richards would read this! But alas i realize that posting here is like

the proverbial tree falling in the Amazon- wait maybe thats not a good analogy anymore.

Anyway -- Instead of ordering up such a fat, garish, Aston-Mercedes-Cadilac I'd simply put my money down ask to speak with Richards and say, build me an all carbon P2.

Back to the early days of the 20th century when bespoke car building was popular.  Everything thats new is old!

This is something I have figured there is a place in the market for, for many years.  Good luck to them.

Remember these will be future classics and these will be the cars that fetch silly money at auction in the years to come.

is it just me that is tired of seeing this same aston being called different names? I mean £1.2 mil for what is practically a DB9 has to be insane. I know that shape is gorgeous but its getting a bit tedious when they say all new and its only a shorter version of the DB9 ( V8 Vantage) or with a couple more doors ( Rapide) or pumped full of steroids (DBS). Next to the DB9 the DBS looks like its trying too hard. Gone are the elegant swooping line only to be replaced with vents and scoops everywhere. Give us something new for pete's sake.

I'm very interested to see the level of customisation Aston Martin can offer to clients of this car. I hope to see much more than the usual colour and material combination. If an owner would like a driver-oriented dashboard, he shall have it. The challenge for Aston Martin is to deliver on the client's requests without making them look and feel too much like a low-volume kit car (i.e. a Jaguar air-con unit here, Volvo air-con vent here, and a Mazda door handle there.................). Previous specials made for a certain Southeast Asian Monarch definitely had that "cheap feel" about them.

Aston Martin would ask the owners to take part in the development of the suspensions......................... So no adjustable trick electric suspensions then? Very stone age. Maybe Aston Martin can ask their new best friends at Mercedes Benz for their airmatic suspension system.

Aesthetically, it will be a beautiful car. At 1.2 million quid, it has to be!

Basicly its about paying for your own version of an Aston Martin. Customizing extravaganza but at top industrial level basicly so, it may be worth it for some.

The contouring of the door sills looks very Lotus Evora.

Or maybe it's just a Vantage, holding it's tummy in to impress the ladies.

I could not agree more. I find it particularly frustating watching top gear when they call Porsche designers the lasiest in the world, when surely Aston is worse. Straight on from 100m, its very difficult to tell which type of Aston is approaching, and that even stretches back to DB7/ Vanquish, (Although Vanquish was prob most unique). Differentiating between Hyundais is easier for Gods sake.

With all their cars looking so similar, save a load of money and get a V8 Vantage, probably the best looking of all the twins and by far the cheapest!

The bigger concern is not the  bespoke nature of this project (Ferrari already does it), but the tie-up with Mercedes-Benz. Will "AMG" stand for Aston Martin Germany in the future?

Right, just the world needs, another mega-pricey car of limited value to real enthusiasts !

It might put some Veyrons on the used market though.

The sadest part of this wholeoil money play, is that they get the carbon, the rest of us

get little crash protection and hundrends of thousands of drivers die everywhere all around te world- except those in these mega stiff vaults. Its we (our families and children!!! who deserve these carbon chassis!
