  • Renault Koleos 2.0 dCi 175 Privilege

To Renault, the justification behind this strangely titled Koleos is as simple as it comes: it can’t do without it. In a market that in Europe alone has more than doubled in size since 2002, to be without a recreational off-roader is to disadvantage yourself in the same way as a pub without beer.

I stuggle to comprehend chief designer Patrick le Quement standing back at his finished design and thinking, "Mmmm, Im really pleased with that"

I now consider Renault and Nissan to be one big conglomerate, and am truly surprised that the sibling to the X-Trail, Qashqai and Murano could possibly end up looking so ugly!  It looks like an X-Trail that has been beaten repeatedly with the ugly stick!

In a class where there are cars like the C-Crosser, 4007, CRV, Rav4, indeed the X-Trail and other overachievers like the Tiguan and Kuga to choose from, I can't see how this ugly newcomer could be a commercial success.

Maybe the Renault designers should stick to bland instead.  To my eyes, the new Laguna is quite a handsome car.  Next to the Koleos, everything looks handsome!

The Koleos is actually a really good drive - don't knock it til you try it! Shouldn't judge a book by it's cover ........ and so on!
