    Sweet Spot

    Jul 20, 2008 12:09 PM

How about a new feature in the magazine or on the web site which gives the sweet spot of a particular car range?

This wouldn't necessarily pick the fastest or best spec'd car in the range it would be completely subjective and highlight which cars are worth more than the sum of their parts.

So often do we hear comments such as, "The 1.8 model is dull and thrashy, but the 1.4 is sweet reving and lively", and "The narrower wheel and tyre combo makes the chassis more entertaining and ride so much better". The same can be said of the addition of equipment and the like, but which car is truly the best example of the model.

I know it is sometimes hinted at during first tests and the like in the mag, but it would make an interesting weekly feature.  I think there would be some genuine surprises.

I agree with this thaqt it would be interesting to have this kind of information. TopGear magazine do something of the kind in their new car listings in the back of the mag and surprisingly it is not always the fastest/most expensive model type that gets the accolade.
