There's only one thing for it - now the Government MUST, and I mean MUST, reduce the price of petrol by decreasing the tax which is involved in that. They're getting greedy. I think everyone needs to get a bit greener, but there need to be more incentives, such as no VAT, on the greenest cars to make people buy them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get the toerag in front of a Grand Jury of countrymen(English not Scots) to try the thief for perjuring his Commons Oath, wilful, knowing  deception and extorting monies under false pretences. Stop mucking about with this clown and the vested interests he fronts for.

They got to pay for the John Lewis list and gravy train somehow. (Trip to Leeds Castle for one civil servant for a launch £328)

Then there are the benefit scroungers at the top of the mall, when they going to sort them out.

 Saying the Road fund license is a green tax is a bad joke, it will just mean more old cars scrapped prematurely and therefore more new ones will be manufactured creating more pollution.

Also increasing the tax will increase usage, "I have paid that tax upfront ergo I better get my moneys worth."

Wow, who would have thought he would lie.  He talks such utter rubbish about everything that no matter how many more lies he tells is going to make him look anything other than a lying thief who is totally out of touch with reality. 

 I have two massive gas guzzling vehicles in my household.  A 1.8 petrol Civic and a 1.4 eight valve Citroen C3.  Both will go up in tax bands, the Civic will cost more to tax ... only by £5 though.  The C3 stays the same, so there you have it.  A Citroen C3 is a family car.  A Honda Civic is a gas guzzler.  Because remember, this tax rise was only going to affect gas guzzlers.  Incidentally the C3 averages 36 mpg and the Civic 41mpg in the same mixed driving.

 

 

The Gov't needs to raise some cash so they market (pretend) that it's for the sake of the environment. If this was their real goal they'd remove all the speed bumps and mini roundabouts in senseless places and sort out the use of bus lanes, ie decrease the stop / start situations where possible. On top of this they could insist that every new car must include an average MPG computer, which really helps people understand how to drive efficiently. Do this and we'd see trees sprouting up all over the place!

Is anyone surprised about this? This joke of a man has f**ked up the economy so badly that he has no choice but to fleece the average family even further- the motorist is always a soft spot because these hacks (Move over darling...) can hide behind the environment issues, as usual. This country is virtually bankrupt. Expect more of it.

This will cause massive problems for some families who already struggle to fork out the money just to get to and from work, I think the governement is not thinking very clearly about this as these types of taxes are actually an economy crusher. With petrol prices rising sharply, the last thing we all need is a hike in road excise duty.

Normal people will not make trips to places such as large retail outlets that are located further away because of the price it costs and in general there will be less spending across the nation which can only contribute further to ecomonic decline/recession. If anyone knows what's good for this country, they should be against this bill. Yes we all care about the environment, but lets be sensible for goodness sake?

Nope. We Brits will dutifully carry on handing over the readies to fill up our cars while the rest of the world descends into anarchy with rioting in the streets and Nazi-style orgies in the bedrooms. Oh, that bit was in the UK, wasn't it?

Are you on a wind up Mr Read? Since the announcement in the Budget in March that cars as old as Apr 2001 first registered will have their VED more than doubled the demand for these cars has evaporated. It is precisely that 3,4,5,6,7 year old cars will have to carry up to £245 VED extra per year from 2010 that they've become unsaleable, as nearly £500 sobs for VED represents a goodly proportion of what the car was once worth.
