  • Spied: Porsche 911 GT3 RS

    Jun 02, 2008 12:55 PM

As Porsche prepares to unveil a newly facelifted version of its 911, our spies have caught the next evolution of the hardcore GT3 RS model testing at the Nurburgring.
The new GT3 RS is expected to go on sale next year, while the updated version of the standard 911 will be released within the next few months. Styling around the front and rear bumper has been subtly modified, and this lightweight, track-focused Porsche is now expected to offer around 450bhp; that’s 40bhp more than the current ...Read the full article

Just goes to  show. Porsche's constant and consistant development of track cars underline the breeding. These cars are meant to be driven while Ferraris are meant to be looked at. outside the IVY in London...Driving here in Sweden during the Winter months my friends' rampant horses are locked up in their 'stables' my 911 on the other hand is having tremendous  fun on the ice. I thank God for the Porsche SUV. It allows this 911 development to continue and evolve. The California for the nouveau riche...the 911 for serious drivers please.

Is this Porsche's response to the GT-R giving the GT3 a hiding ?

Undeniably a wonderful achievement but they leave me cold.

    No idea why though.

Why why why!  Audi style driving lights!

Can't be long before they become the chav's light of choice.

Get the feeling that, like Lexus lights they are going to become dated a little too quickly.

Soon to be seen on 1 litre tastefully bodykitted Corsas.

Hahahahaha - what is it about these lights that really riles when they come up behind you at 100mph?

On a dull UK day, the Audi LEDs really stand out. Now I don't mind being distracted by an R8 or RS6 going the other way, but I don't really need to know that some sales rep from Swindon has sold enough photocopiers to get into a 1.9 TDI A4 ;)

(Yeah, yeah, I know it's a good car, well made and all that, but in the grand scheme of things it's just zzzzzz)

Not only Audi lights but also Audi's new gearbox and direct indirection, next you know Porsches will be made using ASF ( Audi Space frame ). I'm starting to think Porsche only brought into VAG so they would have to do they own R&D. No wonder they want Audi to stop building the R8, they probably want to re-badge as a Porsche !.

Err which German manufacturer developed and raced successfully the PDK box in the 80's?

I'll give you a clue its not the company that "borrowed" a lot of a Lamborghini for the R8

No doubt it will be great, just hope the flappy paddle gearbox isn't standard and you can still have a manual!

Porsche should be upgrading its comparably-priced mid-engined Cayman to compete with the GT-R, not its aging overpriced obsolete yesterday's technology and yesterday's style 911 special variant.  Once again, Porsche AG executives have their head in the wrong place.
