  • Tiguan buyers get Golf stop-gap

    May 28, 2008 4:51 PM

German buyers of the Volkswagen Tiguan will get a free VW Golf until their vehicles are delivered in January. Faced with a production backlog of its soft-roader and in an effort to stop Tiguan buyers from looking elsewhere, Volkswagen has taken the unusual move of getting its dealers to hand out Golfs to anyone who orders a Tiguan. To cover the costs of depreciation on the Golf, VW will pay the dealers €1000 (£800) for every Tiguan sold. Read the full article

Blimey the Kuga has got them well rattled!

Actually there is a surefire way to jump the queue...

Order a better value and superior Honda CRV instead!!

No auto available for the Honda which is a big no no for many including me. Wouldn't buy a Tiguan either though, too girly!

I'd rather have a Nissan QASHQAI. Really economical too.
I've got an Aygo and a Meerkovonian meerkat :)

£800 to cover the depreciation from now until January - I bet dealers are delighted with that! I brand new Golf is going to lose that in its first month...

£1000 depreciation until 2009? Thats very wishful thinking! I seem to remember Daewoo having a similar deal when they launched. If you bought a brand new car at the beginning of 1995 on an M reg you could swap it for free for a brand new N reg car in the August of 1995.

These sort of deals arent good for depreciation as come January 2009 you will have a flood of 6 months old Golfs hitting the market, just as the Mk6 Golf hits showrooms.
