What is it?

Nothing to do with Subaru’s long-defunkt SVX coupe – this SVX is a special edition of the iconic Land Rover Defender, introduced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the generic British 4x4. The original Land Rover made its debut at the Amsterdam show in 1948 – but the family resemblance between it and the modern Defender is still evident.

They did the almost identical thing 15 years ago - the Land Rover 90SV(Special Vehicles). At least that had a comparatively discreet black-coloured, smaller diameter external roll-cage, not the hideous tonka-toy look of this thing. Maybe they had some bits left over round the back from then, as apparently it sold poorly in the UK, and they've cobbled this together. Love to know how much they asked for it in 1993 compared to the £30+K for this thing.

The roll cage may have been discrete on the SV but what about that lurid metallic green it came in ? Awful. Much better in black. The only flaw on the SVX for me is the lack of rear seats. £30k is too much too. That's two flaws then.

Don't you think those headlight surrounds give it a face 'only its mother could love'? 

Potentially three flaws then ! Oh and I wish they'd souped up the engine as its a special edition. Four flaws ! Think I'd just buy a Defender pick up and do the work myself. Would save loads.
